Study
Think about what to sell. What do you like? What are you passionate about? What do you know a lot about?
Write it Down
Put your ideas down on paper. Create a list of any idea you can think of. The more ideas the better.
Discover
Discover, through research, those ideas that are the most promising. Many ideas sound good coming into your mind but on paper they look terrible.
Focus on your Market
Who are you going to market to? What are they looking for? What emerging trends are they beginning to pick up?
Niche and Product
Identify your niche market and the product you specifically want to sell. This will be tentative. You still have the hardest part to deal with – finding suppliers.

Focus on being able to convert your web traffic into buyers. Test changes to make sure they increase your conversion rates. There are thousands of places to find information about converting traffic to buyers on your site. Do your homework.
Market your Site
Look into the many blogs and articles written about marketing your internet site. There is a lot of value in understanding how to market your product. After all, an awesome product, a great website, and no marketing plan will get you nowhere fast.
Amazon and eBay
Utilize online marketplaces. Their selling platforms are easy and get tons of traffic everyday. This will be especially useful if you can sell your product cheaper than your competitor.
